My book, 'Magical Motherhood' was written in response to a request from my daughter-in-law (Cheryl) to share with her all I'd learned during the course of my four pregnancies and births. Now people ask, 'When are you going to write a follow-up?' The answer is, 'Not yet, but I'm gathering material.'
Babies, generally, soon grow into toddlers and before long they're off to nursery school or kindergarten. My two small grandsons are now at that age, but I still see them every weekday. Their needs and actions bring thoughts to my mind, ways of dealing and helping them that I would like to share with you, dear Reader.
The thing is, our world will look very different when our babies are grown. They're going to need all the forces and resources they can possibly muster. I believe we're all born with the potential we need. The trouble is, a lot of what we and the world (i.e. culture, playthings, education) does is to divert this potential, to undermine and destroy these latent talents and abilities. As adults who provide care to children, we need to awake to these influences and, as far as possible, protect our children. It's all about the future.
My posts are likely to swing between the very very young and the little bit older. I'll try to keep things as real and practical as possible.
